How it works

  1. Share your location Tap the button and allow location access. We never store or share where you are.
  2. We pick for you We pull real nearby restaurants from Google Places and randomly select one that's open right now.
  3. Just go eat Get directions or call ahead. Don't like the pick? Tap again for a different nearby spot.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to sign up or create an account?

No. Eat What Food? requires zero signup, no email, and no personal information. Open the page, tap the button, eat. That's it.

What if I don't like the restaurant it picked?

Hit Pick again. We track what we've already shown you so you won't see the same place twice — until you've cycled through every nearby open spot, at which point we start fresh.

Does it show restaurants that are actually open right now?

Yes. We always prefer open restaurants. Only if every nearby place is closed — like late at night — will we show closed options, and we'll tell you clearly.

What cities does it work in?

Anywhere you have a location signal and nearby restaurants. Eat What Food? works across the United States — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Austin, Seattle, and beyond — and in most countries worldwide.

Can't share my location — can I still use it?

Yes. Tap search a different area and type any city, neighborhood, or ZIP code. We'll find restaurants near that area instead.

How is this different from Yelp or Google Maps?

Yelp and Google Maps give you lists to scroll through — which is just a different kind of decision paralysis. Eat What Food? makes the decision for you. One tap, one answer, no filters, no overthinking.
